I visited Kashi in November 2013 for the Dev Deepavali Festival. It was for 3 days during which tried to visit as many temples as I could. Honestly if you want to truly experience Kashi
keep a week. Stayed at Assi Ghat in Anami lodge. Neat and clean. Contact Shri Singh 0542 2314951, 91 9839445036, Rs 800/ a night. Took a rickshaw at 7 am to the temples. U see the Durga Mandir.

Tulsi Manas Mandir made in 1964 is close to the Durga Mandir. These two temples n Sankat Mochan are nearby - do at one go.
Slightly ahead is Tridev Mandir i.e. made by those who originate from Rajasthan. They have replicated two very popular places of worship there Salasar and Khatu Shyamji. This pics shows

Entrance to Sankat Mochan mandir. It is dedicated to Lord Hanuman. The meaning of Sankat Mochan is relief from all the problems (Sankat means problem and Mochan means relief giver). It was constructed by the educationist and freedom fighter Pt. Madan Mohan Malviya (the founder of the BHU) in the early 1900s.

Just next to the entrance are huge number of monkeys. The devotees of the Lord Hanuman offer Prasad (desi ghee ke basan ke ladoo).
I went to Kinaram Ashram also called Aghori Baba Ashram. U see pic of Baba. Quiet place with strong vibrations.
Vishwanath Mandir inside the Banaras Hindu University. It was made in 1964 sponsored by the Birlas. BHU was founded in 1915. It has about 15,000 students, 1700 teachers and 8,000 non teaching staff. It also has a 927 bed hospital.
The tower is taller than Qutub Minar. Do visit first floor of temple, made me feel very good. To know more Click here

A Swamini friend of mine asked me to take a boat from the first ghat (Assi) to the last ghat (Raj) on Kartik Purnima day and visit Adi Keshava Mandir. U see sunrise at Rajghat.
Entrance to Adi Keshava Mandir. From Rajghat you can walk along the Ganga or walk uphill thru Krishnamurthi Foundation School and reach Mandir. Very peaceful place. Loved it.

locked), Bharat Mata Mandir, Lolarkkund (dedicated to Sun God), Chausati Temple, Kal Bhairav and Maha Mrityunja Mandir, Kabir Chaura Ashram, Ashta Bhairavs.
Tilting temple in water is near the Scindia Ghat. Plan the temple/ashram visit in a way so u cover all temples in one area at a go. Kalbhairav Mandir is known as the most ancient temple
