How many died in the Kashmiri Terrorist Movement

  • Fatalities in Terrorist Violence 1988 to 3.2.19. Total 44,977 of which Civilians 14,833-Security Forces 6,454 and Terrorists 23,640.

The terrorist movement started in the Kashmir Valley around 1989. It got a fillip after the Home Minister’s (Mufti M Syed) daughter was kidnapped by terrorists and subsequently released after the Government capitulated to their demands.

 

Fatalities are split into Civilians, Security Force personnel and Terrorists. The number of terrorists killed includes Indians, Pakistanis and Afghans, as well as small numbers of people from nearly a dozen other countries, who were sent by their Pakistani handlers to fight in Jammu and Kashmir.

 

Fatalities from 1989 to Feb 3 2019 were 44,977 broken up into Civilians 14,883 – Security Forces 6,454 and Terrorists 23,640. To this add about 45 who died in Pulwama terror attack.
