I had come to Pune for taking pics of Dastkari Haat Festival. The friends whom I was staying with asked me to visit their son ka school, Vishwashanti Gurukul. They said the campus is very nice. As I walked around the campus saw an imposing structure, The Vishwashanti Sangeet Kala Academy. U see the entrance.

As I walked up the steps was greeting by an image of Saraswati in the centre. Walls on both sides had pics and write up on individual musical instruments. I think this info would be useful to many so clicked pics of each board. This one is about SITAR.

This is about SANTOOR and TABLA.

Ganesha playing the Mrudungam.

Ma Saraswati.

Naad-Brahma.

Violin and Tabla.

Rudra Veena. Every board is well designed with a nice wooden frame. Taken close up of instrument.

World Peace Centre.

Shri Krishna blowing the conch.

Shivji performing the TANDAVA NRITYA.

Saraswati Veena.

Sarod.

Goddess Saraswati.

Close to the kala academy is a river. All along the river, school has made small cottages as you see that are used for meditation. Cottages are named after the Saptarishis. This one is named Maharshi Gautam. He is called ''Mantradrishta'' because he created from Mantras and Suktas from ancient Indian scriptures. According to board inside cottage ''it can be said that Gautam Dharmasutras, as enunciated by Rishi Gautam, are the first known official Code of Conduct for mankind".

As I crossed the hall walked into this structure. There is a dome in the centre and domes all around it. The stone images are from Orissa.

Inside centre dome. In centre elephants move, wall panels have various scenes - left is Shri Krishna, right is Krishna and Arjuna in chariot. To see pics of Dastkari Haat Festival Pune Click here

Inside a dome structure where teaching classes are held. Very impressive. Wish there was a board which explained the science behind design of this wonderful Sangeet Kala Academy.

I walked around the school a bit. This is an Olympic size swimming school. Very impressive campus. Why the name Gurukul? "Gu" means dark and "Ru" means light. So, "Guru" may be translated as darkness to light, or possibly one who leads from darkness to light. The Guru is a teacher who guides the Shishya''s life or a spiritual mentor who leads the shishya (student) from blindness or ignorance to bliss, wisdom, and enlightenment."

Students playing badminton. The structure under construction is a library. To visit site of Vishwashanti Gurukul http://mitgurukul.com/ Click here
