While driving from Gangotri to Kedarnath we came across a huge lake that we named Tehri Taal. (we were told it is the submerged town of Tehri).A bridge over Tehri Taal.Another view Tehri Taal.We met two interesting boys Keshav and Govind.
Just before Kedarnath is Sonprayag. Nearby, at GuptKashi, is a famous Shivji ka mandir. This is where Shiva turned invisible to escape from the Pandavas (hence the name, Gupt, which means “invisible”), who were pursuing him and finally caught up to him laA distant view of the temple town Kedarnath. The car takes you to Gauri Kund, the base camp for Kedarnath. From here, it is a 14 kms trek to the Kedarnath shrine. What you see is Vyasa Gufa (cave). It is here that Veda Vyasa is believed to have dictated the Mahabharata to Ganesh.What you see is Lord Ganesh Gufa (cave). Here it is believed that Ganesh took dictation of the Mahabharata from the Guru of all times Veda Vyasa. Also, visit Mana village, 6kms away from Badrinath. It is the last village before the Tibetan border.
