The disciple that wins the heart of Guru completely
He alone knows the state of supremacy of Parmeshwar.
Only He is the true Guru who has Hari's Name in His heart
I am a sacrifice to such a Guru many times.
He is treasure of everything and blesser of the soul.
He is dyed in Divine ecstasy day and night.
Guru is absorbed in Brahman and Parabrahm in the Guru. They are one without doubt.
Such a true Guru is not obtained even by a thousand devices.
O Nanak! by great good luck comes union with Him. (3)
Some rare beings obtain such joy in devotion to Hari
But whoever drinks this Nectar, becomes immortal.
He will never die;
In whose heart is revealed the treasure of good;
He utters the Hari's Name day and night;
And imparts true teaching to his disciples.
He has no attachment with worldly love and Maya.
Sole Hari abides in his heart.
His mind is just a lamp that shines in pitch darkness of ignorance.
O Nanak! from his mind flee doubt, worldly attachment and sufferings. (6)
Guru's perfect teachings, cool the hot minds;
True bliss comes and sorrows flee;
And fear of transmigration goes.
Fear is gone and man lives free from fear.
And all ailings and troubles vanish from the mind.
He, whose creation the devotee was, has shown mercy.
Now the devotee contemplates the Name of Murari in the company of Saints.
The devotee has obtained peace of mind and doubt of transmigration has ceased;
O Nanak! by hearing the praises the praises of Hari with his ears. (7) SLOKH 19

CANTO-OCTET-19
CANTO-OCTET-19
The wealth after which you rush in all four directions.
The wealth can be found by devotion to Hari.
The comfort for which you always yearn for;
That comfort lies in devotion to Saints.
The repute for which you do pious works;
That repute you will find in devotion and seeking protection of God.
The Maya malady, which cannot be cured by many efforts;
That malady can be cured by applying medicine of devotion to Hari
Devotion to the Name of Hari is supreme of all treasures.
O Nanak! contemplate it and you will be accepted in God's Court. (2)
He who speaks of Divine essence is the true devotee.
But who is caught in transmigration is raw and false.
By service to the Prabhu transmigration ends.
Discard your ego and take shelter with True Guru.
In this way jewel of your life is saved.
Therefore contemplate the Hari, who is support of all life.
By other numerous devices man can't get salvation.
Reading of Smritis, Shashtras and Vedas is also of no avail.
But if you worship with devotion and fervor of heart.
O Nanak! you will obtain the fruit desired by your heart. (4)
You will be relieved of anxiety and will live in peace.
If you contemplate the Name of Hari with each breath and morsel.
O my mind discard all cleverness.
Obtain the true wealth in the company of saints.
Amass the capital of devotion to Hari's Name and carry on the true trade.
Thus you will obtain joy and peace in this world and acclaim at the Divine court.
In all creation see only the Supreme Being.
O Nanak! only those can see Him on whose forehead such good fortune is recorded. (7) SLOKH 20

CANTO-OCTET-20
CANTO-OCTET-20
O Prabhu this beggar begs a gift from you.
Please show mercy and grant him Hari's Name.

O Prabhu! may meditate on You with each breath.
My devotion may be attached to Your holy feet.
I may ever perform Prabhu's service.
You are my One sole shelter, One sole support.
O Prabhu Nanak seeks your Divine Name. (1)
In Prabhu's kind glance lies supreme bliss.
Rare are those who obtain this Divine joy.
Those who have tasted it are satiated.
They become perfect and never waiver.
They are filled with joy of devotion to the brim.
In the company of saints spiritual joy of devotion is produced in their minds.
Discarding all others, they have taken Lord's shelter.
Their hearts are illumined and they meditate on Him day and night.

He Himself has raised all creation.
O Nanak! He Himself meditates on Himself. (1)
CANTO-OCTET-21
CANTO-OCTET-21
When the world was in no form visible.
Then who committed good or bad acts?
When the God was in the state of complete absorption in the Absolute.
Then with whom could anyone be inimical.
When the Parabrahm existed alone there.
Then where was worldly love and where was doubt.
God Himself is the play and Himself plays it.
O Nanak! None other then He is creator. (1)
When the Prabhu alone existed;
Then who could be considered bound or free.
When the Hari inaccessible and boundless alone existed.
Then who was to go in hell or heaven?
When the unattributed Prabhu alone existed;
Then was place was for Shiva and Maya?
When He Himself was merged in His own light.
Then who was fearless and was afraid of anyone?
God Himself is performer of His wonders;
O Nanak! God is inaccessible and limitless. (2)
When the undeceivable, impenetrable and inscratable Lord lay absorbed in Himself;
Who then felt the influence of Maya?
When He paid homage to Himself;
Then the three gunas (satvic, rajas & tamas) qualities had not entered the world.
When the Bhagwan alone solely existed.
Who was then free from care or who felt care.
When He with Himself contented;
Ho then was the reciter and who the listener.
He is beyond limit; higher than the highest.
O Nanak! He Himself alone can reach Himself (6)
When God Himself created the world.
Then He expanded Himself in three Qualities.
Then the term virtue and sin came under consideration.
Some go to hell and some yearn for heaven.
Then came the involvements with the Maya.
Ego, worldly love, doubt and fear,
Pain and pleasure, honor and dishonor.
That in numerous ways began to describe.
His play He Himself performs and views;
O Nanak! when he gathers up this play within Himself, He alone remains. (7)
Wherever God is invisible there He abides in his saints.
Where there is a Saint, there is God himself.
He pervades His manifestation for the glory of saints.
He is the Lord of this world and the next one.
He holds His own special glory.
He himself performs his wonders & amusements.
He Himself enjoys the delights and Himself remains unattached to them.
With whomsoever He is pleased, He attaches him to His Name.
Whom so ever He desires He involves him in the worldly play.
He is incalculable, unfathomable, unaccountable and immeasurable;
Nanak speaks as He inspires him to speak. (8-21) SLOKH 22
