Had heard a lot about RKM Hospital so visited. U see entrance to Administrative building. Hospital was inaugurated in 1979. A school for Nursing was started in 1985. The hospital serves and treats all the people of Arunachal Pradesh equally.

It is quite a big hospital, very well laid out and clean. U see patients. The Govt of India provided Rs 50 crs as corpus fund in 2008. Since then the State Govt suspended financial aid (thru grants in aid) to the hospital totally. The tribal community and financially weaker sections are provided free/concessionary treatment.

Just in front of the eye doctor section is this shop where u get all types of frames. In 2012-13 251,065 outdoor patients were treated, the nos in 2009-10 was 236,619.

Artificial Limbs Fitting Centre or Jaipur Foot. Staff trained in Jaipur and Kanpur. The indoor dept has 222 beds. Occupancy is 80% in winters and over crowded in summer. Nearly all diseases, both medical and surgical, are treated under expert medical supervision supported by dedicated nursing staff as you shall see later.

Body Scanner at work. It also has dialysis facility. The hospital has a laboratory, blood bank, operation theater (you shall see), audiometry (for assessment of deafness), radiology, and M.R.I. (u shall see).

Eye operation in progress. Hospital has 52 doctors of whom app 20 are specialists and 200 Nurses.

Local come for treatment, belongs to the NYISHI tribe. He has a knot of hair rolled into a bun over this forehead. In their headdress they wear weathers of the great Hornbill bird.

Post operative exercise for a patient.

This collection also includes a few pics of State Museum in Itanagar. Here they have images of every Arunachali tribe. We present a few pics in this collection. Note home design, lady dress and work being done.

Nurses with ward behind. Thru the glass they monitor the ward and do their own work. Good idea.

Spiral CT scanner. Very impressed with the facilities.

OPD section. I can only admire the sewa bhavna with which the hospital is being run. Found staff to be courteous and helpful. Arunachal Pradesh needs many more hospitals like this one. To visit hospital web site Click here

The total brickwork is of 16,200 cubic metre length which has been identified by some scholars with Mayapur of Ramachandra, a king of the Jitari Dynasty.
