The First Traditional Hindu Mandir in Europe, carved and constructed according to the ancient Shilpashastras. No steel was used. 2,828 tonnes of Bulgarian limestone & 2,000 tonnes of Italian Carrara marble were shipped to India, carved by over 1,500 craft

In all, 26,3300 carved pieces, including amazing intricate ceilings of Indian Ambaji marble, were finally assembled like a giant jigsaw within 3 years.

The Mandir has a booklet Understanding Hinduism from where I picked up the matter above.

It is a miracle in modern times worked by over a thousand volunteers and the vision & inspiration of Punjya Pramukh Swami Maharaj. Copyright Shri Swaminarayan Mandir.

Had a lot about the Swaminarayan Temple in Nesden London so decided to visit. You see an overview of the temple, very intricate work as always.

Since could not get permission to click from inside pictures taken from the road. You see entrance gate to temple. It seems normally closed, we enter from side gate through security checks.

A side view. The weather in London changes quickly. As I was trying to click this picture it was first cloudy, sunny and cloudy again.

The building that you see on the left is from where we entered. The woodwork inside is super. The complex also has a vegetarian restaurant (had 4 gobi parathas for pounds 10 or Rs 750) and a Store that sells Indian snacks etc. Overall London is very expensive. The cheapest tea was pounds one.
