Theme: Nāma, Rūpa, Nāda, Bindu – Exploring the Deeper Dimensions of Nāṭya

Nāṭyaśāstra Gurukulam, Navi Mumbai, in collaboration with Aatmalaya (Bengaluru), announces a Residential Immersion in Nāṭya to be held from July 10 (evening) to July 13 (morning), 2026, in Navi Mumbai.

Centred on the theme Nāma, Rūpa, Nāda, Bindu—An Exploration of Name, Form, Sound, And Stillness—this immersion invites committed practitioners of Indian classical dance to engage deeply with Nāṭya beyond the framework of performance.

Conceived in the spirit of a Gurukulam, the programme brings together limited number of participants from across traditions such as Bharatanāṭyam, Kathak, Odissi, Kuchipuḍi, and others.

The immersion is designed as a process-oriented, intensive engagement integrating embodied practice, śāstra, and contemplative inquiry.

Participants will engage in:

1. Immersive Nāṭya practice

2. Explorations in Nāṭya philosophy and spirituality

3. Engagement with classical texts and frameworks

4. Dialogues that situate Nāṭya within a broader civilisational and cultural context.

Rather than a performance-centric workshop, the immersion seeks to create a shared space of sādhanā, where practitioners can reflect, refine, and re-anchor their artistic journeys in deeper aesthetic and philosophical foundations.

The initiative is mentored by senior thinkers and practitioners committed to reviving the integral vision of Nāṭya as articulated in the Nāṭyaśāstra—where art, ethics, and inner inquiry converge.

Participation is by application and selection, to ensure depth of engagement and alignment of the cohort.

Location: Navi Mumbai.

Participation Fee: ₹15,000 (inclusive of accommodation and meals)
