Meaning:
The melodious sound of the ghunghroo is
enchanting during dance. Accompanying every graceful step of the dancer, it
spreads joy and delight among all who witness the performance.
The Sixth Ghunghroo Festival, held on 21st
June 2026 at the CIDCO Convention Centre, was a magnificent celebration of
India's rich cultural heritage and the timeless beauty of Indian classical
dance. Organized with great dedication by Mrs. Sinddhu Nair, the festival brought
together renowned dance institutions, accomplished artists, and budding
performers on one platform to honour and preserve the country's vibrant
performing arts traditions.
Among the many remarkable presentations that
captivated the audience, the Kathak performance by the students of VIPA (Ved
Institute of Performing Arts) stood out as one of the most memorable highlights
of the evening. Under the expert guidance and choreography of Mrs. Aditi Yadav,
the young dancers presented a graceful and spiritually uplifting performance
dedicated to Lord Ganesh, the remover of obstacles and the harbinger of wisdom,
prosperity, and auspicious beginnings.
The presentation reflected the true essence of
Kathak through its intricate footwork, rhythmic precision, expressive abhinaya,
graceful spins, and captivating storytelling. Every movement was synchronized
with the melodious sounds of the ghunghroo, creating a mesmerizing visual and
rhythmic experience. Dressed in elegant traditional costumes, the dancers
displayed remarkable confidence, discipline, and devotion, earning heartfelt
appreciation from the audience.
The performance also show cased the high
standards of training imparted at VIPA. The institute has consistently nurtured
young talent by encouraging students to participate in prestigious cultural
festivals, competitions, and stage performances throughout the year. With every
performance, the students not only develop technical excellence but also gain a
deeper understanding of India's rich artistic and spiritual traditions.
A distinguishing feature of VIPA's
presentations is its strong foundation in the Janaki Prasad Gharana of Banaras,
a revered lineage of Kathak known for its refined aesthetics, intricate
rhythmic compositions, graceful movements, and emphasis on expressive
storytelling. This traditional influence lends authenticity, depth, and a
unique artistic identity to every performance presented by the institute.
The audience responded with enthusiastic
applause, appreciating the dancers' dedication and the artistic excellence
displayed on stage. The performance beautifully demonstrated how young artists
can preserve classical traditions while presenting them with freshness,
sincerity, and youthful energy.
The Sixth Ghunghroo Festival once again proved
to be an inspiring platform for promoting Indian classical dance and
encouraging emerging talent. Festivals of this nature play a vital role in
preserving the nation's invaluable cultural heritage while motivating the
younger generation to embrace and carry forward these timeless art forms.
The success of the event is a testament to the
vision and efforts of Mrs. Sinddhu Nair, whose commitment to promoting
classical arts has made the Ghunghroo Festival a respected cultural event.
Special appreciation is also due to Mrs. Aditi Yadav and the entire VIPA (Ved
Institute of Performing Arts) family for presenting a performance that was not
only artistically brilliant but also spiritually enriching. Their dedication to
excellence continues to inspire young dancers and contributes significantly to
the preservation and promotion of India's glorious classical dance traditions
