List of Terrorist Attacks in India

  • This article lists terror attacks from 1993 onwards, gives casualties and who responsible.

My favourite movie of the 1980’s was Ek Duji Ke Liye featuring Kamal Hasan and Rati Agnihotri. Another super Kamal movie was Sagar staring Rishi Kapoor and Dimple Kapadia.

During the run up to the 2019 Lok Sabha polls Kamal said Nathuram Godse was India’s first terrorist because he shot Gandhi dead. It set social media on fire. If one used Kamal’s faulty logic Abdul Rashid’s shooting Swami Shraddhananda dead, in 1926, would make him India’s first terrorist.

Last year Communist leader Thomas Isaac termed protesting Hindus at Sabarimala as terrorists.

India has been a victim of terrorism from the 1980’s. This listing starts with the 1993 Mumbai Bomb Blasts followed by year wise details of terror attacks.  It excludes terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Bastar and insurgency in Christian majority states of Nagaland, Mizoram and Meghalaya.

Format is year, city, nature of terror attack, persons killed, who responsible and media report link. Every care is taken in compiling data, errors if any are inadvertent and unintentional.

Wish my favourite actor Kamal and Thomas Isaac had done their homework before saying what they did.

It is easy to find fault with others but difficult to look within and change.
