- This
is a brief write-up on the best beaches of Muscat, Oman.
When
Indians think of the Middle East beaches, it is at best Dubai and its water
sports. I personally visited and enjoyed it way back in 1997. However, there
are a lot more Middle East beaches than Dubai. This article introduces you to
the beaches of Muscat in Oman.
The
flying time from Mumbai to Muscat is only under 3 hours, just a few minutes
more than Mumbai to Kolkata. The Flight time from Delhi to Muscat is under 3.5
hours. Moreover, one can fly to Muscat and within the Middle East on Salam air booking at Cleartrip, amongst others.
Muscat
and around also have some lovely beaches. If they are comparable to the Best Beaches in India, the ones in Maldives, Lakshadweep,
and Sri Lanka they could attract tourists. If beach trips are provided as a
comprehensive tour package it will help.
The good thing about Muscat is one gets American standard infrastructure along with Indian Culture. The place is exceedingly clean. A friend who worked there for six years calls it a sophisticated India. He gives that as one of the reasons why he stayed there, not to forget its beaches where the water is very clean. Some beaches that are part of the Arabian Sea and worth visiting are –
1. Qantab Beach
It
is about fifteen minutes from the city, and very scenic. Tourists go there for
boat rides, snorkelling, and scuba diving. Its Dolphin shows are famous.
“Qantab served as a crucial trade port for centuries, reflecting the region's cultural heritage with traditional dhows and a vibrant fishing legacy.” Water is clean, swimming areas are designated as safe, cleanliness is high and the best part is there are lifeguards so safe.
Ahead
of Qantab Beach is Al Bustan Beach. It has some very valuable and classy hotel
properties like the Palace Hotel.
2. Al Sawadi beach
It
is about 70 km from Muscat, very scenic, and famous for its Dolfin shows. It is
also a great place for snorkelling, diving, and kiteboarding. The long beach is
covered with beautiful shells. The main island has a fort that can only be
reached during low tide. Never heard of a fort in this region!
“Al Sawadi beach serves as a launchpad for exploring the renowned Daymaniyat Islands, celebrated as one of Oman's premier diving spots.”
3. Al Qurum Beach
This beach is in the heart of Muscat, a bit like Mumbai’s Chowpatty and Juhu beaches. It is a long beach where one can go for a walk and has a number of large hotels built alongside it. Due to being in the town, shopping centres and restaurants are very accessible making it popular. For those who want a sunbath, there are chairs and umbrellas on the beach.
4. Marjan Beach
If
you are looking for a quiet and small beach this is the place. It is popular
with snorkelers. On good days you might be lucky to see turtles and other sea
creatures. Explore the place. Such beaches are good for relaxing or writing a
book. The beach is also known for its coral reefs.
5. Tiwi Beach
What I like about this beach are its bluest waters amongst the
many beaches in Oman and its soft white sand. Walking on such a stand is
a different experience. Because the water is clear it is popular with
snorkelers. The adventurous can visit the nearby Tiwi village.
6. Yiti Beach
The beach is about 30 km from the city of Muscat. It is one of the lesser-known beaches of Oman. However, what makes it attractive are its small cliffs and isolation – ideal for those who want privacy. Those who like long walks and are fond of sunset views must visit this beach. I think it must be cheaper on the pocket too.
Honestly,
I did not know that Muscat had so much to offer. Indians who are enamored by
the beaches of Maldives must explore the beaches of Muscat and around.
These
beaches could be good for destination Indian weddings. Since Indians are
price-sensitive, a combined deal of hotels and flights with Salamair Airways
could be a winner. Read Why are Indians marrying abroad
