Preface
Deciphering
Ayurarogyasaukhyam, the final word in
Melpathur Narayana Bhattathirippad's divine work Shrimad Narayaneeyam, reveals
the status of the body and mind, or long life, health, and happiness.
Our
ancient rishis, who lived along the banks of rivers, forests, and the Himalayan
valley, used to get together at least once a year to share their ideas and
conclusions. While some of the final results of their discussions were left
unwritten but were recalled by the group, the majority were recorded on palm
leaves and treated to last for a long time. Ayurveda, the science of life and
health, is based on these findings. One of India's greatest gifts to the world
for the good of humanity is this.
To make recall
easier, their conclusions were recorded as quatrains, or sloka. Several Ayurvedic scholars lived and fought for this genuine
old Indian medical practice. Here are some of them honoured.
Ayurveda deals with the healthy life period
of human beings. Ayurveda not only cures the disease but also keeps the harmony
of health by balancing tridoshas in
the body.
Ayurveda is, contrary to public belief,
always open to the developments in other branch of medical science. Ayurveda
has used modern pharmaceutical science, biochemistry, biotechnology, botany,
chemistry, law, engineering, information technology etc. for its growth and
global recognition. Ayurveda is acknowledged as a
traditional medical system in more than 30 countries, and Ayurvedic and herbal
products or medicines are sold to more than 150 countries.
For
Ayurvedic medications and treatments to be widely accepted and popular around
the world, they must effectively complete long-term,
recognized trials. Modern techniques should be used to interpret results,
and positive findings only serve to elevate Indian medical knowledge. The
Indian government regulates the drug manufacturing under the Drugs and
Cosmetics Act.
Renowned
doctors and experts in the domains of Ayush and modern medicine have produced a
number of evidence-based research publications and books. The Ayush Department
has released Pharmacopeias and an Ayurvedic formulary. Since the COVID-19
pandemic, this life-saving strategy has gained more favour worldwide. People's
physical, mental, spiritual, and social well-being are all addressed by this
holistic approach to healthcare.
Ayurvedic
clinicians can create treatment protocols in a methodical way by using the WHO
Guidelines for Traditional Medicines. Research is a crucial field in which
practitioners of contemporary medicine, fundamental scientists, and ayurvedic
specialists can collaborate to produce data for evidence-based ayurveda.
The higher
authorities of Kottakkal Arya Vaidya Sala recommended publishing educational articles
to raise awareness of the benefits of this therapeutic system.
The vast experience of Arya Vaidya Sala's manufacturing, clinical, research,
and quality assurance divisions forms the foundation of these publications. This
is my chance to express my gratitude to the higher officials of Kottakkal Arya
Vaidya Sala.
I hope
the Ayurvedic community and the general public who adhere to the principles of
this therapeutic medical system will find this title helpful.
