The
MARWAR issue of July-August 2013 had published a photo essay on Kiradu Temples
where pictures were taken by me. As I was going through archives read the photo
essay again and loved the text by Professors Kamal Giri and Maruti Nandan
Tiwari so sharing the essay.
Barmer is about two and a half hours drive from Jaisalmer and probably three from Jodhpur. It is famous for its woodwork and appliqué work. I visited an NGO and village to see how they work. Thereafter visited Kiradu Temples i.e. about 30 kms away. It is in the midst of nowhere - awesome even today. Do go there before 5 pm as the place does not attract too many tourists and is lonely. If you are lucky shall see lots of peacocks enroute.
